Specialist - Parent Communication GEAR UP East High School (Part-Time Variable Hour)

GEAR UP is seeking to hire a specialist who will work with parents of students who are enrolled in the GEAR UP program. The Specialist will communicate with parents regarding activities, requirements, meetings, and events. The Specialist develops and maintains a strong partnership with school administrators, teachers and counselors.
The Specialist acts as a positive role model of parent involvement, interacts with students and /or faculty using discernment, follow through, and decision making; and performs duties as assigned. Parent Specialist assists in developing and executing programming for parents of GEAR UP students
High School Diploma or GED required and 1 year related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge working directly with adult parents of minors in low income households.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with parents, deliver information, or encourage participation.
- Ability to speak English Fluently.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work with GEAR UP personnel and school staff at their assigned schools, colleges, or other locations.
Three to five years experience working directly with adult parents of minors in low income households.
Requires regular sitting, talking, seeing and fine hand manipulation to use computer keyboard.
You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.
$10.20 - $12.75 per hour
