Payroll Services Technician
$17.66 per hour or higher commensurate with experience
The Payroll Services Technician is responsible for general support to the payroll department by providing customer service by telephone, e-mail, and in-person; reconciling exception reporting; and entering payroll paperwork regarding new and existing employees into Banner. They will also assist with fund balancing with Payroll Accountant to pay on and off campus vendors and garnishment orders; respond to payroll questions and research problems with web time entry; train department users on web time entry and payroll procedures; assist in payroll processing and perform related tasks as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED
One year of experience working in payroll, finance or related field
One year working in a customer service-oriented team environment to accomplish shared goals
Experience using databases to enter and retrieve information
Experience developing and delivering training and presentations to small and large audiences
Experience completing work that requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to details
Experience editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
Experience in HR Banner module
Experience working in a higher education environment
Knowledge of UI policies, procedures and practices
Knowledge of employee records compliance with federal and state law, and University policy
Experience reviewing documents for compliance with established procedures
General knowledge of the Employee Information System of the Division of Statewide Payroll in the Office of the Controller
Three years of experience entering and retrieving data from a computerized accounting system
Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, while working well in a team environment
