Electrician II - Journeyman/ Electrician III - Master
: Staff - Full-Time
Under the direction of the Supervisor - Electrical Operations, the Electrician will
maintain, repair and install all electrical systems, insuring good operation of all power and lighting systems. The position will be filled by either a level II or III electrician depending on qualifications.
High school diploma plus 4 years of directly related experience to the summary of duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling 4 years is required.
Requires a in-depth knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used within the physical plant or central plant trade. Appropriate licensing may be required.
Electrician II will require a Journeyman license.
Electrician III will require a Master license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of electrical, construction or maintenance type of work.
- Knowledge of local, state and national codes including fire, safety a nd electrical codes.
- Knowledge of skills related to those of an electrician.
- Skill in electrical maintenance work.
- Skill in calculating power, lighting loads for transformers and conductors.
- Skill in troubleshooting safety and accurately using meters, diagrams and common sense.
- Ability to maintain a good relationship with general public, faculty and staff.
- Ability to function with dexterity and safety.
- Ability to read, write and follow directions.
- Ability to works with voltage up to 12,047.
-Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. -Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
-Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
-Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
