Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College is seeking a number of experienced secondary and higher ed teaching professionals and content experts to serve as part-time tutors in the tutoring center. We offer help to TMCC students in various Math and Science topics, Writing and Literature, Foreign Language, Humanities disciplines, and Study Skills.
We also aim to extend our tutoring services into Veterinary Nursing and other Health Science Fields (Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Community Health Sciences, etc.).
Increasing our service hours and the consistency of our schedule are also priorities, so evening and weekend availabilities are especially welcome.
Paid and volunteer positions are available. If you are already a part-time NSHE employee, please be aware of how this position might impact the balance of your weekly hours.
Qualifications of Tutor Applicants: 1. At least two (2) years of relevant teaching/tutoring experience and verifiable content knowledge in all subjects you would like to tutor. 2. Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially with students from varied backgrounds and skill levels. 3. Demonstrate knowledge of effective study skills and strategies, including utilization of relevant technologies.
Compensation: $12-$15 an hour depending on experience.
