Tufts University Department of Occupational Therapy (OT) is one of the country’s top-ranked programs. Through our education, research, and practice, we promote participation in meaningful that supports their health and well-being activity (i.e., occupation) of individuals, communities and populations with diverse needs and experiences. The department currently offers 3 levels of occupational therapy degrees: 1) A post-baccalaureate entry-level OT professional doctoral degree (we are currently transitioning from the entry-level master’s degree to the entry-level doctorate); 2) A post-professional OT master’s degree, and a post-professional OT doctoral degree program. We also offer a number of advanced certificate programs. The entry-OT program is the largest program and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®). Entry-level students must successfully complete a number of community service and fieldwork placements and finish with a Doctoral Experiential Component and Capstone project.

The Department Administrator serves as the primary contact representing the department, its faculty and programs to the university and external community. They will be a resource for students, parents, staff and other constituents, oversee office operations and workflow and supervise administrative staff, student and temporary employees. S/he also oversees information technology, purchasing and building/space needs for department. This individual compiles and analyzes data, prepares reports, writes department newsletters, bulletins and maintains web sites, manages complex budgets and grants and plans department events, lectures and seminars. Also manages support for student and academic services and faculty search and promotion processes.


Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience as typically acquired by a Bachelor’s degree and 3+years of related experience OR high school/GED and at least 5 years of related experience.
Position requires proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and excellent communication, time management, organizational and customer service skills.
Experience with financial management.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education is preferred as is the ability to implement new initiatives or business practices; analytical skills are desirable.
