Position Summary

As Undergraduate Law Program Advisor and Coordinator you will be first point of contact for students interested in, having questions about or issues with the Law BA major and/or minor.

Duties include:
    • Advising students on registration, course choice and path to graduation for the LAW BA.
    • Tracking and assisting enrollment management with targets and corresponding implications for academic programs/development.
    • Represent the School of Law Undergraduate Program at student events related to orientation.
    • Pursue and lead strategies to address the needs of under-performing students.
    • Collaborate on university retention initiatives, including campaigns designed to influence non-registered students.
    • Help innovate, lead and implement strategies that support advising goals to set by the college.

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree with 1 year experience or associate’s degree with 2 years’ experience working with undergraduate students in a higher education setting.
    • Understanding of and experience working with undergraduate academic programs and student populations.
    • Experience with academic advising and working on student success initiatives.
    • Ability to make strategic decisions with students about their coursework, curricular requirements, and progress toward degree.
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
    • Computer experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
    • Must be able to manage competing priorities, be deadline-driven, and demonstrate a commitment to learning new skills as needed.
    • Ability to handle confidential information daily; Ability to learn the FERPA laws enacted to protect student privacy and information.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UB systems (SIRIHUB, Navigate, etc.) and other applications related to student academic records and student support services strongly preferred.
  • Experience with UB policies and procedures surrounding undergraduate education.
  • Solution oriented and creative: ability to innovate and take initiative.
  • Working knowledge of the University academic integrity guidelines and undergraduate financial aid rules regarding student registrations.
