Administrative Support III - English/Literature


Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:

This position provides administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the Department of English and Literature under the supervision of the Department Chair. The position maintains records and manages databases related to budget preparation and submission; tracks expenditures and/or revenues; and manages day-to-day activities related to specific budget areas. The position also provides general office support, including confidential administrative support for Department Chair and faculty; scheduling meetings; producing email and reports; making travel arrangements; answering phones; assisting with onboarding of new employees; greeting visitors and disseminating information to a diverse constituency; and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Graduated from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in a related field OR a combination of related education and experience totaling four years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of best practices for effective office support, including appropriate etiquette in various settings in relation to a diverse constituency.
  • Skill in office procedures. Skill in the use of computers and computer software applications, including word processors, spreadsheets, email, and online databases.
  • Skill in the preparation and interpretation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation skills and confidentiality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skill at meeting and assisting people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to present in a positive professional demeanor and poise.
  • Ability to complete tasks to deadline.
  • Ability to adapt to the professional needs of others and work as part of a team.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings (e.g. for journal launch nights).

Physical Requirements:

Work is performed in typical office environment. Physical ability to perform some lifting up to 20 lbs.

Pay Range: $27,592 - $34,490
