  • Lead the strategic cultivation of employment opportunities for international students in the United States and abroad.
  • Specialize in understanding the diverse needs of employers with a global footprint and keep abreast of regulatory developments that impact students.
  • Educate and consult with US employers on the different hiring options based on work authorization and sponsorship.
  • Develop strategic goals to identify, educate and recruit employers interested in expanding their diversity through the hiring of international students.
  • Cultivate opportunities abroad for all students interested in working outside of their home country.
  • Work in online career and relationship management systems to further strategic development plan for international student hiring.
  • Contribute to raising the UB employer net promoter score including employer satisfaction.
  • Familiarity with effective reporting strategies including, extracting data as it pertains to employer development and knowledge of how to report progress in employer cultivation.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments and staff on the cultivation of international alumni for access to employment, mentorship and volunteer opportunities related to career development.,
  • Guide students in engagement with alumni with a global context/experience to support career aspirations.
  • Develop educational programming in collaboration with University partners designed to target specialized needs of international students.
  • Coach international students and domestic students interested in pursuing opportunities outside of their home country.
  • Recognize the unique emotional needs of international students, create programming in collaboration with others to support students.
  • Collaborate on Career Community initiative to incorporate specialized needs of international students.
  • Educate students regarding the skills employers are seeking and support students in articulating those skills to employers.
  • Partner with faculty to develop targeted career related educational content and integrate Career Communities into curriculum to expand knowledge of post-graduation options.
  • Prepare International students to understand the unique characteristics of working within the US and how that differs from their home country’s work culture and mores.
  • Communicate relevant information to the Career Services team regarding the needs of these populations to ensure timely, effective services
  • Develop departmental collaboration with relevant on campus partners in an effort to ensure a comprehensive response to the Career Development needs of international students and domestic students seeking international opportunities.
  • Strategically create and maintain partnerships and relationships with academic and administrative units to foster integrated support to international students.
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and administration regarding industry and recruiting trends
  • Maintain a working knowledge of student and employer facing technology tools to effectively assist colleagues and constituents in maximizing the use of each tool while increasing the number of student users (tools include, but are not limited to, Asana, Slack, Handshake, Big Interview, Focus 2, VMock, First Hand,, and Versatile PhD).
  • Act as the lead for any technology tool/resource that is an integral part of the strategy to better serve Global employers and students
  • Support the departmental effort to adopt and execute data management best practices and processes based on high-quality data sets.
  • Gain an understanding of departmental analytics contributing to a data-literate culture, learning best practices and data strategies in order to make and influence data-informed decisions.
  • Gather and communicate trends regarding student hiring trends and policies that specifically impact international student
  • Ensure ongoing learning and development of skills including career design, technology trends, data analysis, accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion., Conduct other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the Department.
