The Department of Political Science at Tufts University ranks among the leading undergraduate political science departments in the country. The Administrative Coordinator in Political Science provides advanced level support in the Political Science Department promoting effective communications across the department and university. S/he works on events and special projects geared toward Political Science majors and other students, faculty, and the public; uses graphic design skills to develop print and online materials such as flyers and posters, including layout, drafting, editing, and proofreading; uses social media skills to coordinate publicity materials, advertising, and public relations for all Political Science events; assists in monitoring and updating the Political Science website as well as the department’s Facebook page and Twitter feed; assists with alumni events and student research briefing series; produces department newsletters; and provides advanced administrative support as necessary. This position also serves as the Administrative Coordinator in the Pre-College Intensive program in International Relations having primary responsibility for the program during its summer duration (three-week duration). In interaction with Pre-College Program staff, will oversee planning and logistics for the program during the academic year and summer months which includes such projects as: reviewing student applications and responding to questions from students and parents during the pre-enrollment period; recruiting instructors and TAs and speakers in collaboration with faculty advisors; supervising and providing guidance to TAs before and during the program, collaborating with language instructors to place students into language sections." Normally hours would be 20 in PS and 8 in Pre-College per week.
Knowledge and experience as typically acquired by:
High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years of administrative experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of communications/administrative experience.
Recent Tufts Graduates encouraged to apply.
This person should have a current driver’s license and reliable transportation. Graphic art skills a plus.
