Center for Integrated Global Biomedical Sciences (CIGBS), headquartered in the UB Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences (CBLS), conducts innovative research and fosters international collaborations in new areas of drug development. In addition, UB CIGBS has held a highly regarded NIH contract for global pharmacology laboratory quality assurance that has recently been renewed through 2029.
We are currently seeking to add a laboratory Research Support Specialist to our team to support our Clinical Pharmacology Quality Assurance (CPQA) Laboratory Program. This position is an outstanding opportunity for individuals to foster valuable laboratory skills in the realm of clinical research trials. Some of these skills include validating and utilizing laboratory developed tests that employ liquid chromatography in tandem with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry and other detection equipment, interacting with clinical trial researchers to assure sample collection and storage parameters have been properly identified and followed, and understanding the importance of and following applicable regulatory requirements, such as ISO, FDA, and sponsor standards.
The CPQA program is a global cross-network program that develops and conducts quality assurance activities in support of HIV clinical and translational research. CPQA works with laboratories participating in HIV clinical trials to improve the quality of pharmacology data, increase awareness of the importance of pharmacology at clinical sites, and provide a mechanism for ensuring the quality of pharmacology data in HIV clinical trials.
Job Duties:
Ideally, candidates for this position will have the skills, training, and cognitive aptitude to technically support all CPQA Programs. Job duties may include the following:
Follow all CPQA policies and standard operating procedures to competently, and safely, perform assigned technical and laboratory administrative support, including, but not limited to:
- Use, monitor, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Order, use and maintain laboratory resource inventories and associated records
- Prepare, qualify, and maintain reagents for laboratory developed tests
- Create, update, and maintain laboratory and program-associated records
- Prepare, ship and track US and international shipments of CPQA Proficiency Testing panels
- Assist CPQA assessors in pre-assessment phase of external document reviews such as procedures, test records and documented evidence
- Assist in external accreditation and vendor audits of the CPQA Program
- Contribute to technical reports and other CPQA reports, and documents as needed; complete according to timeline(s) and deadline(s).
- Complete annual training and continuing education as required by the institution, sponsor, and laboratory policies
