Located in the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, the UB Microbiome Center is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented and energetic Patient Care Technician providing dental assistant services to support clinical research studies. For this part time position, duties include:
- Assist clinical research operations including examinations and clinical data and sample collection as outlined in IRB-approved clinical protocols and adhering to proper infection control protocols and procedures.
- Assist during treatment procedures such as prophylaxes and scaling and root planning as required by study protocols.
- Able to obtain and review/update Health History/Dental History/Life Style History, and take vitals if needed
- Able to assist with recruitment, consent and retention of study participants and other research studies activities as needed.
- Strong phone skills. Help with scheduling of participants. (ie: making appointments, returning phone calls and answering phones)
- Keep and maintain records of appointments, clinical records of participants. Record keeping of participants conditions and treatments.
- Track enrollment and recruitment data for all studies. Knowledge of Electronic health records a plus.
- Knowledge of dental diagnosis: Ability to properly take dental x-rays and interpretations, diagnostic, prognosis of dental conditions (have worked with digital x-rays)
- Maintain equipment protocols. Including but not limited to: Dental units, autoclave units, dental handpieces.
- Inventory control. Help with insuring clinic has all supplies needed and re-ordering of all dental and research supplies as required.
- Gathering all paperwork needed to conduct study.
- Perform room set-up and break-down and be responsible for sterilization of dental instruments.
20 hours a week, typically Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
