Shares in the responsibility for overall direction of a comprehensive, auxiliary housing operation serving approximately 1400 students. Primary focus of position is the direction and coordination of residents, Resident Assistant staff development, student development activities, and services with an emphasis on residence education, academic support, and a "Living-Learning" philosophy.
Full-time, live-off twelve month position. Supervise one full-time professional staff member. Indirectly supervise up to 36 Resident assistants, Area Coordinator(s), and Assistant Area Coordinator(s).
Staff Supervision and Staff Development 30% – Provide supervision and guidance to Area Coordinator and student staff, including Assistant Area Coordinator(s), and Resident Assistants. Focus on developing professional and personal growth. Provide counseling and other direct services when necessary.
Meet weekly with Area Coordinator to provide guidance, assess needs and evaluate Assistant Area Coordinators, Resident Assistants and students
Develop and implement both formal and informal staff evaluation processes for Area Coordinator, Assistant Area Coordinator(s), and Resident Assistants
Develop strategies and concepts that promote staff "team spirit" and effective work relationships.
Staff Training/Education/Selection 20% – Coordinate and implement staff selection, training, and education.
Routinely evaluate student staff job descriptions based on departmental and University values, mission, and vision.
Coordinate comprehensive screening and interview process to hire student staff members based on job descriptions.
Develop a comprehensive training program for Area Coordinator, Assistant Area Coordinator(s), and Resident Assistants. Basic and advanced job training should be focused in the beginning of Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Coordinator year-round training through regularly scheduled in-services.
Create, maintain, and update Professional on Duty, RA Supervisor, and RA manuals.
Housing and Residence Life Administration 30% – Participate in the overall administration of the Housing and Residence Life operations
Work collaboratively with other HRL staff members to set and maintain quality standards for a comprehensive residential environment, with an emphasis on "Living-Learning" concepts, customer service, and community.
Create and assess programming model focused on meeting the needs and wants of the residential population and with an emphasis on outside of the classroom learning.
Represent the Department of Housing and Residence Life on various University and Prescott campus committees. Participate in the planning and coordinator of campus events such as Orientation, Accepted Student Preview Day, and Open House.
Respond to student and parental concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Clery and Title IX reporting requirements.
Provide feedback on food services.
When needed, run HRL summer operations, including Summer Housing and coordination of conferences.
Student Conduct/Behavior Intervention Team 20% – Participate in University Student Conduct and BIT process.
Adjudicate student conduct cases
Provide feedback on Code of Conduct and Student Conduct process
Participate in Behavior Intervention Team – provide insight and interventions as needed.
Coordinate HRL follow for students of concern.
Master’s degree. Area of study: Student Affairs, Student Development, Counseling, or closely related field
Required skills, knowledge, abilities:
One to three years of work experience in residence hall operations, including live-in/on call responsibilities and supervision of Resident Assistant or similar position.
Ability to serve on University-wide and campus committees
