Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) seeks a Head of Cataloging and Metadata to be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the cataloging unit. This position will provide expertise and leadership to a cataloging unit of one professional cataloger, one support staff member, and a number of student assistants. Responsibilities include supervising original and copy cataloging activities following nationally accepted standards, performing some cataloging of regular and special collection materials, working with vendors to determine efficient catalog maintenance methods, handling unit statistics, ensuring a current unit procedures manual, and maintaining the integrity of the catalog, including the authority files. The successful candidate will have an understanding of all aspects of technical services, maintain an awareness of current issues and trends, including new cataloging rules, communicate with other library departments to ensure material accessibility, and serve on the Library Systems team. This position reports to the Associate Director for Electronic and Technical Services.

Hunt Library, located on the upper two floors of the new Mori Hosseini Student Union at the Daytona Beach campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, provides library services to over 6,000 residential students at this campus as well as to over 22,000 distance learning students through the Worldwide campus. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
ALA-accredited master’s degree
knowledge of nationally accepted standards used in cataloging, including RDA
knowledge of OCLC procedures
relevant experience with a library systems platform
knowledge of LC subject headings and classification schedules and authority control
analytical skills
excellent interpersonal and communication skills
experience in a supervisory position
demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
excellent organization skills and attention to detail
flexibility with new and evolving procedures
ability to work cooperatively with staff from all library departments

Preferred Qualifications:
experience with the Alma library systems platform including third-party tools, Summon over Alma, RDA Toolkit, Cataloger’s Desktop, OCLC Connextion, and MarcEdit
experience with cataloging special collections and archival materials
experience in an academic library
