Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties may vary among departments and jobs. Incumbents typically perform a substantial portion or all of the following kinds of duties:

  • Coordinate Health Center staff to promote student/patient care and provide quality resources to students.
  • Establish and maintain a resource pool of healthcare professionals, current healthcare information, and media/material resources to assist and support education and professional outreach efforts.
  • Assist in the identification of underserved student populations and partner with appropriate departments to meet student needs.
  • Provide mental health training to staff, administrators, faculty, students, and others.
  • Strengthen partnerships with campus clubs, campus programs, Public Health Care agencies, and community agencies.
  • Establish, design, and implement a peer health educator program on campus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

  • The position requires specialized professional knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices used in healthcare rules and regulations.

  • Requires well developed language and human relations skills to explain technical concepts to others and conduct in-service training.
  • Requires knowledge of proper methods for inventorying and storing equipment, materials, and supplies.

Physical Abilities
  • Incumbent is required to perform work of an active nature, requiring sufficient physical stamina to carry out duties.

  • Requires ambulatory ability to lift medium-to-heavy weight materials, balance, and walk and stand for extended periods of time. 
  • Requires auditory ability to project voice to a small group. 
  • Requires the ability to work varying schedules and locations.
  • Requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead.
  • Requires the ability to push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds
?Education and Experience
  • The position requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, health education or health and at least two years of responsible experience in the facilitation of health education. A graduate degree in a related field may substitute for some experience, or, any combination of education and experience that would meet the required equivalent qualifications. Experience with writing and maintaining grants is desirable.
     
    Licenses and Certificates
    Requires a valid driver license.
     
    Working Conditions
    Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment where health and safety considerations exist from physical labor, blood-borne pathogens, and equipment.

Conditions of Employment

This is a professional expert position.  The District reserves the right to extend, modify, or eliminate this position based upon available funds. The normal hours of work will be between 8:00 am – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  This position will generally work 14 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  However, some flexibility such as evenings and weekends will be required to meet the needs of the department.  The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Applications are accepted year-round and will remain in the pool for one year. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Please do not call the Office of Human Resources regarding the status of your application.

The normal hours of work are typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the department, including evening and/or weekend hours for special events.
