Assignments are short-term, temporary, and will not exceed 28 hours per week or 160 days per Fiscal Year. This is a continuous recruitment to create a POOL of applicants to be used as needed for temporary support. You will be contacted  by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Please do not call the Office of Human Resources regarding the status of your application.

Under the direction of the Director, Child Care Center, will provide various clerical and administrative assignments in support of office staff, faculty and students.  
The following key attributes are needed to be successful in this rewarding department:

  1. Customer service oriented.
  2. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  3. Ability to work in a department with a high amount of traffic.
  4. Ability to work independently and with others in a small office space.
  5. Ability to coordinate fundraising events with campus and center employees.
  6. Ability to multitask.
  7. Must have the following skills:
    1. Telephone etiquette.
    2. Computer/typing skills.
    3. Basic math skills.
    4. Working knowledge and basic to intermediate level of word processing software; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    5. Overall organizational skills.
  8. Ability to confidently interact with diverse families and children aged 6 months to 6 years.
  9. Any experience or knowledge of planning events with 300 or more people.

Qualifications and Physical Demands

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:

1. Basic knowledge of customer service in a child care setting.
2. Child care programs – Infant/ Toddler and Preschool programs.
3. Simple record keeping- such as enrollment, attendance, classroom activities, child classroom records.

Ability to:
4. Work closely with a diverse community of faculty, staff, students and our community.
5. Assist teachers and students with children's activities.
6. Perform light classroom housekeeping and cleaning duties.
7. Provide excellent customer service.
8. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
9. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
10. Possession of a current first aid certificate (within two years).

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
11. Current T. B. test (within one year).
12. Fingerprint check through appropriate agencies.

Conditions of Employment

Employment is on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon verification of employment history, background verification as governed under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. Short term/temporary assignments do not offer fringe benefits or pay for holidays or time not worked and are limited to 28 hours per week.
 
This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. We accept applications all year long. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file, as needed, to fill temporary assignments. (Applications will remain in the pool for one year.)
   

Additional Information

The normal hours of work are typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the department. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.
