Overview

Tufts University School of Dental Medicine seeks a Research Assistant for an active basic science laboratory whose research focuses on translational studies on tissue engineering and regeneration, association of dental diseases with systemic diseases including diabetes, osteoarthritis and Alzheimer’s disease and cancer.  In addition to basic methods of cell and molecular biology including signal transduction pathways, microRNA and long noncoding RNA, transgenics and gene knock out the Chen Lab has used a number of rodent animal models, in which stem cells, growth factors and advanced matrix scaffolds are applied. 


What You'll Do

Under close supervision of Principal Investigator, Research Assistant conducts a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include performing assays, tissue culture, electrophoresis, and other laboratory techniques. The Research Assistant will also record test results, analyze data using basic statistics, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and monitor animal colonies. The Research Assistant will monitor laboratory operations by ordering supplies, maintaining equipment and lab space cleanliness, and will follow lab safety protocols. The Research Assistant will assist with administrative duties in the lab as needed. The Research Assistant will perform other duties as required. 


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological science with up to 1 year laboratory experience.    

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures; experience working with mice is a plus.
  • This position requires strong organizational and time management skills along with the ability to work under minimal supervision.  
  • Should have very strong written and verbal communication skills to help in drafting animal protocols, assisting students and research fellows and preparation and submission of scientific papers and grants.    


Pay Range

Minimum $47,800.00, Midpoint $59,850.00, Maximum $71,900.00
 

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
