Embry-Riddle’s Hunt Library is currently accepting applications for the position of evening Access Services Technician. This position co-supervises the Sunday through Thursday evening hours of the Hunt Library’s Access Services Department including responsibility for building security. Has primary responsibility for hiring and scheduling student assistants; prepares media equipment for delivery to classrooms and patron pick-up; and participates in departmental meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the library as a whole for the Sunday opening hours as the only library staff person on duty
Coordinate the hiring and interviewing of student assistants with the Student Employment Office
Schedule student workers and monitor time cards and payroll
Train, supervise, and evaluate 2-4 student assistants every semester.
Assist patrons with checking library materials in and out, photocopier questions, directional questions, and other customer service duties.
Explain and demonstrate proper use of library media equipment to patrons, check out equipment using proper protocols.
Communicate library policies and procedures to all patrons.
Explain overdue fines and fees and any other billing issues.
Explain and enforce the library’s code of conduct.
Complete Building Liaison training with the university’s Safety Department.
Responsible for implementing the library’s emergency plans during emergency situations or drills.
Assist in maintaining the workflow of the department.
Collaborate with other Access Services Technicians to complete tasks as needed.
Participate in departmental, library, and university-wide meetings, training, and events as schedule permits.
Participate on library-wide committees and with strategic planning as schedule permits.
Close and secure the building in the absence of the night-time technician.


Required Qualifications:
Experience in front-line, public-facing service, preferably in a library environment
Excellent customer service skills and attitude
Ability to work independently after initial training and exercise judgment when applying rules and procedures
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain and implement policies and procedures
Supervisory experience
Good time management skills
Experience handling security issues
Working knowledge of Microsoft office
High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
Some college preferred
