The San Jose - Evergreen Community College District is currently recruiting for a Staff Assistant III. This is a temporary assignment through 3/01/19 with the possibility of extension.

Hourly pay is $19.09. Working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Position will be located at Evergreen Valley College, 3095 Yerba Buena Road, San Jose, CA 95135

Under the direction of the Director of Student Success Supervisor or assigned administrator, the Staff Assistant III provides direct support for EVC staff, counselors, and students. The position will primarily entail scheduling counseling appointments and answering student questions.

Duties and Responsibilities/Specific to Position:

Provide administrative support to the EVC General Counseling Front Desk Area

Provide onboarding support services to new students (e.g. assist students with orientation, assessment, registration)

Provide matriculation services to continuing students (e.g. assist with campus events, transfer workshops)

Provide leadership and/or supervision of student employees

Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Modern office practices and procedures including establishing and maintaining filing systems.

Recordkeeping systems and methods.

Functions, authorities and responsibilities of the various college departments, and practices and procedures of registration.

Basic computer operations and data entry techniques, including word processing.

English grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Bilingual or multilingual fluency is a plus

ABILITY TO:

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the work, including methods of outreach to specific population groups.

Understand and explain policies, procedures and forms related to registration and class enrollment.

Operate and perform basic operator maintenance of standard office machines and equipment including computers.

Exercise sound independent judgment within procedural guidelines.

Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree or higher

Demonstrated experience of secondary or post-secondary education site or program management
