The RENEW Institute at the University at Buffalo is seeking a Research Technician to join a high-performing team supporting exciting research conducted in the Aga Lab for Environmental Research and Testing (ALERT) and the RENEW Laboratories under Professor Aga’s directorship. The laboratories are academic facilities and include analytical instruments and equipment to extract and process environmental samples.

The Research Technician will provide support to research scientists by conducting various research projects and will operate and maintain Core analytical equipment, including Agilent, ThermoScientific, and Waters gas and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometer systems (GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS, respectively).

Primary Responsibilities include:
  • Providing general laboratory support to research scientists and conduct specific and exploratory research projects involving environmental sample preparation and sample extraction using solid phase extraction methods, targeted quantitative analysis of environmental samples using GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, and ion chromatography-based methods.
  • Maintaining analytical equipment and prepare mobile phases, and standards.
  • Quality assurance and quality control reporting and monitoring.
  • Support for service contracts.
