Program Coordinator, ACCESS-TRIO

Definition:

The TRIO/SSS ACCESS Program is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Program Coordinator.
Mission College is located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Our staff and faculty are among the most qualified in the state and our students appreciate the college for its friendly staff and supportive atmosphere.
Under the direction of the ACCESS Program Director, the Program Coordinator will oversee, plan and organize the development of the ACCESS program activities which include workshops, 4-year college tours, scholarship searches, mentorship programs and other measures that promote retention and inspire academic success. The Program Coordinator will conduct workshops, make classroom and community presentations and act as a liaison in establishing a calendar of monthly events and activities. Responsibilities for this position also include collecting and maintaining student data. The Coordinator will work in collaboration with all other ACCESS Program staff in a team-centered environment.

Assignment:

100% of full time, 37.5 hours per week, 11 months per year, with anticipated start date of May 22, 2017. This position is funded through August 31, 2020, and continuation of is contingent upon approval of grant renewal. Schedule may change to include some evening or weekend hours, as needed. This position is a member of the West Valley-Mission Classified Employees Association (WVMCEA), Office, Technical & Business Services Employee Unit.
Work Location: Mission College, Santa Clara, CA.

Salary and Benefits:


Anticipated Hiring Range:
  • $4,259$4,636 monthly (WVMCEA Salary Schedule, Range 57, Steps A-C).

Benefits include:
  • Employer-contributed medical, dental and vision for employee, spouse, and/or dependents (prorated for employees working less than 12 months).
  • Employer-paid long term disability for employee.
  • Voluntary life insurance.
  • 13 paid holidays, plus 1 floating holiday annually; paid non-workdays between Christmas and New Year.
  • 10 days vacation leave accrued annually; rate increases step-wise up to maximum 22 days vacation leave accrued annually. (prorated for employees working less than 12 months).
  • 12 days sick leave accrued annually (prorated for employees working less than 12 months).
  • Personal necessity leave and personal business leave.
  • Educational growth incentive program from $40 to $200 monthly.
  • $500 longevity award annually after 10 years of service and $1,000 longevity award annually after 15 years of service.
  • CalPERS retirement.
  • Position is union affiliated with required dues.


Minimum Qualifications:


Any combination equivalent to:
1. Education Four years of college with major coursework in a field related to the assignment;
AND
2. Experience Three years of increasingly responsible student or human services work involving public contact;
AND
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with persons of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct strategy meetings for calendar and program development.
  • Develop, organize and coordinate activities to meet student needs (including workshops, activities, tours, cultural events, support in applying for financial aid).
  • Recruit staff and faculty to run workshops/activities/tours/cultural events.
  • Attend program meetings
  • Perform recruitment, retention and tracking activities.
  • Develop, organize and coordinate Mentorship Program.
  • Develop, organize and coordinate a scholarship search program.
  • Develop and conduct retention workshops.
  • Serve on committees and work groups as requested.
  • Prepare and maintain database of students participating in program activities.
  • Train and provide work direction to student assistants and others as assigned.
  • Help organize and support student outreach for the program in the college.
  • Liaison with special needs programs at West Valley and Mission colleges and 4-year institutions.
  • Refer students to appropriate staff/faculty/program for support.
  • Oversee student information boards and activities, sign-up forms and reminder card system.
