Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Shipping Manager in Mail/Shipping & Postal Services at the Daytona Beach campus.The Shipping Manager will pick-up and or receive, coordinate and prepare all outgoing University department shipments. Receive, coordinate and prepare all walk up customers with personal shipments through front shipping service window. Assist with necessary preparation requirements and process shipment through appropriate carrier. Enter all necessary information into computer for preparation of shipping label, required documents for international shipments and pricing. Prepare, separate and organize ship-notices for cross charge purposes and return copy to department. Monitor and supervise two (2) to three (3) student shipping assistants per semester. Receive incoming deliveries of mail and packages. Assist with the separation of USPS mail from packages and student from staff. Coordinate and enter all USPS account-table mail & packages for staff and students in receiving system. Receive incoming deliveries from UPS, FedEx and DHL for students, coordinating and entering in receiving system. Store all accountable and special service mail and packages for students in appropriate location. Coordinate and arrange for delivery the account-able mail and packages to University departments.Responsible for overseeing, handling, preparing and processing all outgoing shipments for University departments and walk up customers totaling an average of approximately 25,400 pieces equaling to approximately $280,000 in shipping expenditures annually. Determine most expedient and cost effective method of shipment. Verify completion of Ship Notice; enter necessary shipping information in appropriate computer software.  Operate all equipment in an efficient and productive manner.  Prepare appropriate end of day documentation and assist with the loading of packages picked up by carriers daily. Arrange for special pickups accordingly.Assist in handling and processing incoming shipments from the USPS, FedEx, UPS and DHL. Travel to Post Office and to various pickup locations for outgoing packages on and off campus.  Answer customer-shipping inquiries, by telephone, e-mail or in person. Handle all claims for loss or damage of package/s. Provide tracking numbers and delivery research of package/s on a per request basis. Refer customer to supervisor or responsible person to handle special situations or problems as necessary.  Cover for the campus mail courier as needed. Observe safe driving habits and practices. Responsible for monitoring & maintaining the cleanliness, gas level, tire pressure and repair needs when required of the Mail Center Vehicle on a regular basis.  Monitor use of vehicle by inspecting and maintaining user log to be kept in vehicle. Secure and lock vehicle each night at closing.  Ensure proper and safe operation of all machines and equipment used in performing tasks; report any problems to Supervisor or responsible person as necessary.
