Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Senior Cybersecurity Specialist. This role presents an excellent opportunity for the right candidate. Whether you're relatively new to the field, but with a foundational grasp of cybersecurity principles and a hunger to learn, or you're a seasoned pro looking to further develop your expertise, we want to hear from you. Compensation and placement will be commensurate with the skills and experience you bring to the table.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of related work experience OR

Associate's degree plus 6 years of related work experience OR

an equivalent combination of education (including certifications) and related experience can be considered.

2. Experience in the design, evaluation, implementation, configuration, administration, management or maintenance of IT security systems and services.

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful candidates should possess many of the following knowledge and skills:

Knowledge or basic understanding of:

  • Information security infrastructure methodologies, technologies, and tools.
  • Various operating systems, network connectivity and protocols, "cloud" services and architecture.
  • General web and application knowledge.
  • Trends and developments in information security, as well as current and pending threats.
  • Information security frameworks, such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and federal and state information security and data privacy laws.
  • Basic government regulations and industry standards developed to protect and secure data and information of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Network infrastructure and security concepts.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Collaborating with internal staff, institutional partners, and contracted vendors.
  • Working within established policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to be able to write and deliver reports, recommendations, and proposals to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to synthesize complex and diverse information and present it in an easy-to-understand format.
  • Good problem-solving skills for the identification and resolution of problems as well as finding alternative solutions.
  • Organizational skills that demonstrate time management and effectiveness.
  • Ability to balance workload priorities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Under the guidance of the TMCC Security Officer, conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of security tools such as security awareness training software, firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Support security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threats to contribute to proactive risk mitigation efforts.
  • Provide training and support to college staff on cybersecurity-related topics.
  • Assist with the investigation of reported cyber incidents.


Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary: $70,727 - $88,409 initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.
