Promotes recruitment, enrollment and retention of adult learners into programs offered through one of the District's Colleges, members of the Coast Adult Education Consortium and/or its learning partners. Participates in, and implements activities that reach out to potential students using techniques such as collaborating with staff from other educational organizations, speaking to community groups, conducting outreach activities, organizing programs and events to enhance transition into colleges and college readiness, and making direct contact with potential students.

The Outreach Specialist is an entry-level professional position focusing on initiating, establishing, and maintaining visible connections with peer agencies delivering career technical education, retraining, and academic programs . The Outreach Specialist position requires initiative and self-starting skills to reach out and deliver presentations to potential and current students and agencies. The Outreach Specialist also requires demographic research and data management skills to identify potential students and monitor retention and success.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Researches, receives referrals, and otherwise identifies potential students for instructional programs and student support services. Serves as liaison on behalf of the District and college to service area Adult Education Schools and High School Continuation Programs.

c. Promotes adult learning by initiating and maintaining contact with faculty and college-to-career advisors including those who are administering related programs such as those for underserved populations and workforce development.
d. Schedules, coordinates, and presents information to individuals and/or groups to provide general information about the college and educational opportunities and specific program information, to prospective students at local area continuation high schools, adult education schools, community organizations, on-campus events, and other locations.
e. Distributes education and other collegiate literature to adult education schools and participating local agencies serving adults or promoting post-secondary education. Attends career fairs and other events to present information and materials.
f. Conducts classroom and other presentations for students and non-student adult audiences to provide information on the education opportunities at community colleges.
g. Participates in planning and conducting recruiting and outreach events that may include funding and in-kind resource development activities. Follows up with arranging and facilitating college visitations, tours, and special presentations.
h. Serve as special populations' liaison at Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee meetings.
i. Assists with budget development activities by researching costs and proposing events and activities. Organizes and maintains records of expenses.
j. Organizes and maintains records and statistical data necessary for research and program development, performance evaluation, and reports to funding and grantor agencies.k. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
