Position Summary
The University at Buffalo’s Upward Bound Program is seeking Residential Assistants/Advisors (RAs) to supervise high school students during its (6)-week Summer Intensive Academic Program. RAs must reside in the dormitory Sunday afternoon – Friday afternoon to provide supervision for students, and be responsible for assisting with their academic and evening activities, meals, field trips, leadership development, and residence life programming. RAs must demonstrate the ability to multi-task; serve as mentors, counselors, and referral agents, while enforcing Program behavioral standards at all times. RAs must be willing to interact, make a positive impact, and demonstrate leadership to all program participants. Residential Assistants work cooperatively with the administrative staff, and residential staff of Upward Bound, to create an enriching residential experience in support of our Program’s academic goals and objectives, to ensure a smooth transition to College/University life for all of our students. The employment package for this position is inclusive of a dormitory room, all meals, field trip admission fees, and a stipend.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be responsible, diligent, and conscientious, with good communication skills. Applicants must have completed at least (2) years of college; maintaining a B (3.0) Grade Point Average throughout matriculation. Some experience working with adolescents is highly desirable. Familiarity with TRIO programs is also highly desired, but not required.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference given to individuals with a Bachelor’s degree and TIO alumnus, as well as experience with residence life work.

Physical Demands
Ability to stand, sit and speak effectively for two to three hours.

Salary Range $20,280 – $23,400 full-time annual
Work Hours
Variable: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
