Responsibilities

This position reports to a faculty member and takes responsibility for managing the research labs.

Oversees all aspects of the Berkeley Haas Behavioral Lab, including managing and scheduling with regard to the physical space, overseeing the physical and digital infrastructure that composes the lab, liaising between researchers, and finding needed resources.

  • Applies professional or research concepts to perform analysis of data and systems pertaining to moderately complex projects, policies, initiatives/processes, and/or functions, working with principal investigators, PhD students, and undergraduate research assistants and involving problem solving and assistance with the creation of research materials and the compilation or analysis of data.
  • Gathers and assembles analytical and factual data on assigned problems and issues to prepare reports and/or analyses summarizing information on the assigned issues and commenting on other significance for internal or external constituents.
  • This includes maintaining records on the nature and scope of research that is completed in the lab.
  • Prepares, edits and modifies documents including research reports, manuscripts, presentations and proposals.
  • This involves assisting faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduate RAs with manuscripts, conference submissions, conference presentations, or grant submissions.
  • Using subject matter knowledge, collects and prepares information for use in discussions, meetings of internal and external constituents.
  • This includes assisting faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduate RAs with literature reviews for relevant research projects.
  • On a project basis, performs analytical studies on a variety of policies, research initiatives, programs and issues, including taking a proactive approach to making sure that lab resources are being used efficiently.
  • Provides a variety of analytical duties in support of a function, research initiative, program and/or organizational unit.
  • This includes maintaining records that relate to the research participant pools (e.g. designing and/or maintaining systems track and maintain records of who had taken part in research studies).
  • Participates in administrative/research policy and program project planning and development such as overseeing the use of physical and digital resources maintained by the lab, making sure that all relevant software licensing is up to date and helping to allocate physical lab resources to allow for the efficient conduct of research both in the physical and online lab space.
  • Provides recommendations and guidelines involving programs/initiatives.
  • Serves as a liaison with the instructors of UGBA 105 and UGBA 106 to make certain that the research participant pool affiliated with both classes runs smoothly
  • Coordinates program planning and collaboration with program/project staff.
  • This involves direct work with the Behavioral Lab faculty director to engage in long-term planning regarding the identification and enactment of new initiatives that the Behavioral Lab will take on.

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of and/or can quickly learn common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; demonstrates a desire to promote DEIJB and maintain positive and professional working relationships.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Excel and SPSS or R.


Salary & Benefits

This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) non-exempt career position, which is paid hourly and eligible for UC Benefits.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.30 - $33.57
