Position Summary
- Conduct on-site inspections of UB laboratories. Labs may be designated as research, teaching, or both. Work as part of a 2- or 3-person inspection team.
- Prepare detailed written/electronic lab inspection reports using data obtained from the live inspections. Distribute reports to relevant responsible parties.
- Schedule follow up inspections as necessary to address deficiencies noted in previous inspection reports.
- Interprets and applies Federal and State rules, regulations, and guidelines as they apply to campus labs.
- Verify proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is being utilized during lab work where hazardous material are in use.
- As part of the inspection process, verify training records of lab worker are valid and up to date.
- Stay knowledgeable of all applicable regulations as they pertain to this position.
- Participates as a member of UB EH&S emergency Haz-Mat response team.
- Serves as a back up to the Hazardous Material Technician as needed.
- Work within other EHS departments as needed

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Chemistry or other relevant science.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a lab environment and familiarization of USEPA, NYSDEC, OSHA, NYSDOH regulations as they pertain to laboratory safety and compliance.
- Demonstrated the ability to work in a team atmosphere and ability to function as part of a departmental cross-functional team.
