Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is recruiting for a full-time Food Service Manager to oversee dining services at the TMCC Dandini campus. *This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The position manages operations and supervises employees of Cafe Verde and the Sierra Coffee Bar. The position reports to the Assistant Director, Auxiliary Services.

Responsibilities include menu planning; menu pricing; selecting suppliers, products, and vendors; supervising the quantity ordering of food and supplies; inventory management; administering point-of-sale systems; and ensuring cleaning, sanitation, and safety standards are maintained. The successful candidate will be an experienced kitchen manager with strong people management skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate well with others.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of experience in a high volume food service operation that involved planning, organizing and supervising work of others; purchasing food stuffs; meal planning; and preparation and serving of food; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above



Schedule

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Daily schedule may vary depending on operational needs including catering events.

Compensation Grade

Grade 32 (Step 01, $24.46/hr)

The Grade is determined when the position was created. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. Training and Experience Exam

1) Describe your experience including numbers of years in Institutional Food Service Management such as Institutional Cook, military E-5 or above or in a school or hospital setting.

2) Describe your experience including numbers of years in Food Service Management experience beyond the minimum qualifications in fast food, buffet, deli, bakery, restaurant, etc.

3) Do you have previous hands-on experience with the Nutrikids software program? Describe your experience.

4) Have you attended seminar training sessions or accredited courses related to food service and/or dietary related fields in management, budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, sanitation/safety, preparation, service, training, accounting, and dietetics?

5) Describe your experience working in a juvenile detention facility.
