The Counseling Services department at the University at Buffalo is seeking a generalist with specific interest & experience in providing counseling to college students who are experiencing personal and academic concerns.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing individual, group and couples counseling.
- Providing consultations with faculty and staff on student issues.
- Facilitating presentations on mental health topics for a diverse student population and providing on-call and crisis intervention.
- May provide supervision of graduate students in psychology, social work, and mental health counseling.

Master’s Degree in Social Work or in Mental Health Counseling. Candidates must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of New York within one year of hire. Candidates must have demonstrated skills in individual, couples, and group therapy, consultation, outreach, and crisis intervention. The desire & ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in other departments within the University and strong communication & interpersonal skills are essential.
Minimum of 3 years post-masters, professional experience.
