Position Summary
The Assistant Facilities Manager is responsible for day-to-day facility management, under the direction of the Operations Manager. These responsibilities will include overseeing the setup and breakdown for practices and athletic contests, overseeing the preparation of facilities for external and internal events, assisting with the facility inventory of all equipment and assets.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Assist with day to day upkeep of athletic facilities including walk-throughs and maintenance requests that require work orders

  • Report facility maintenance issues and facilitate necessary action/resolution
  • Oversee the field preparations within the department of intercollegiate athletics are completed
  • Ensure that the facility upkeep is completed by University Facilities with tasks such as, but not limited to, pressure washing, painting, repairing windscreen, conducing field and facility reports, trash pickup, cleaning
  • Assist with oversight on game operations
  • Oversee student facilities staff

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.

  • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and the University, as well as the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and Mid-American Conference. Conduct yourself in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the University and Athletic Department. Uphold the moral, ethical and professional aspects as a representative of the department.

  • Strong organizational skills required. Must be able to multitask, prioritize assignments, work independently and handle requests from supervisors in a positive manner.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to interact effectively with coaching staff and athletes on a daily basis.
  • Work schedule is varied and includes nights, weekends and holidays. Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, moderate physical effort (ability to lift/move up to 50lbs, extensive bending, and reaching), and work outdoors in all weather conditions, is required.
  • Experience with maintaining athletic equipment, overseeing softball field preparations and managing large post event cleanups preferred.
  • Experience working in an Athletic environment.
  • Proficient computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite.
