Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, perform accounting for assigned program or auxiliary and ancillary accounts including preparation of financial statements; perform District-wide accounting for specific accounting functions such as accounts payable; provide clerical support to assigned department; perform other related duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Perform specialized technical and highly detailed accounting work for assigned accounts, including preparation of required financial statements, maintenance of general ledger, and other related fiscal reports; work closely with management of assigned programs to provide relevant and timely fiscal data.     
* Interpret policies and procedures; provide recommendations and technical guidance to administrators and others regarding financial and accounting policies; make decisions within broad guidelines.     
* Prepare and record posting of transactions to the general ledger for assigned programs; prepare journal entries for assigned funds.     
* Compile, maintain and reconcile information required in processing state financial and accounting reports, tax forms, and budget information; interpret information utilized to assure compliance with federal, state, and local policies, laws and regulations; prepare required reports; initiate and transmit payments.     
* Reconcile and audit checks to check reports; make disbursements according to District and College procedures.     
* Collect, count, and reconcile monies and accounts; prepare bank deposits; maintain records of cash transactions and receipts; reconcile receipts and disbursements with appropriate accounting records.     
* Analyze financial information and advise program and accounting personnel of trends, issues and discrepancies; perform month-end closing process; reconcile bank accounts; calculate accruals.     
* Compile, calculate and prepare payroll/fringe data on auxiliary accounts and prepare reimbursements.     
* Respond to requests for information from district/college operating units, governmental agencies, and the public regarding financial and accounting information and policies; investigate discrepancies and make corrections as required.     
* Research information and provide data and reports for administrators, vendors and other departments or agencies.     
* Process purchase orders and direct payments for assigned accounts; create expenditure transfers, verify encumbrances and compile information to make payments in accordance with Federal, State, County and local policies.     
* Maintain appropriate records for assigned programs, accounts and functions.     
* Set up and monitor accounting ledgers related to area of assignment; review and correct a variety of reports; adjust journal entries to properly record financial transactions; ensure data integrity of reports.     
* Input a variety of data to make vendor payments and prepare reports.     
* Enter appropriate data to close accounts at year-end; provide information to auditors.     
* Implement accounting procedures to prepare accounting information for conference travel and claims for reimbursement.     
* Use a computer and related software for data entry, word processing, reporting, and messaging.     
* Assist supervisor with special projects as required.     
* Independently respond to a variety of inquiries and requests regarding functions in assigned department.     
* Perform general office support duties such as opening and routing mail and deliveries; preparing correspondence; filing and record keeping; duplicating and distributing various materials; typing and answering telephones.     
* Perform other related job duties as assigned.
