Compensation Specialist

Location: Moscow

Division/College: Human Resources

Pay Range: $21.63 per hour or higher depending on experience

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Executive HR Director, the Compensation Specialist is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of a market-based compensation system in support of the campus salary administration efforts. This position will be responsible for partnering with supervisors and other functional and subject matter experts to provide compensation analysis. Primary job duties will include providing technical and analytical support in the area of compensation, including analyzing and evaluating jobs to determine the market rate assignment, reviewing employee wage rates, and providing wage recommendations based on a set of parameters. This position will also be the primary point of contact for compensation inquiries, which will require the Compensation Specialist to respond to and resolve routine requests and refer as required. Other duties include assisting in participation in salary survey submissions, assisting with merit administration, conducting compensation market analyses, internal equity reviews, routine reporting, and ensuring maintenance of compensation analysis systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree related to business or human resource management. (Significant experience will be considered in lieu of the degree.)
  • Related experience. (Minimum of four years related experience without a degree).
  • Demonstrated experience with data exporting, tracking, preparation of spreadsheets and documenting transactional back up reports using software applications such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Strong recordkeeping skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments to independently meet deadlines and complete tasks in an accurate manner.
  • Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively and professionally with a diverse population of staff, students, and faculty, using tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in interpreting administrative policies and establishing guidelines and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Fair Labor Standards Act

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of UI policies and procedures.
  • Experience with UI mainframe systems, such as PeopleAdmin, Banner, and/or SIS+.
  • Knowledge of UI Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Analytical nature combined with a clear focus on thoroughness and quality of information.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively convey compensation observations, trends and recommendations through reports.
