DEPARTMENT: Marketing & Communications
REPORTS TO: Associate Vice President for Marketing & Communications

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Marketing & Communications, the copywriter plays a pivotal role in the creation of compelling marketing content and ensuring consistency in voice and brand across all channels as it relates to Nichols mission, vision, and goals.


  • Crafts compelling written content and messaging to the intended audience with reverence to brand guidelines/voice.
  • Writes all content including, but not limited to, web content, brochures and other marketing collateral, program descriptions, TV and radio scripts, and email, direct mail and print campaigns for intended audiences.
  • Works closely with the Creative Director to maximize the visual impact of copy concepts and campaigns.
  • Stays up-to-date on market trends.
  • Utilizes search engine optimization (SEO) best practices and strategies.
  • Collaborates with CRM Analyst on conversion optimizations.
  • Reviews, formats and fact-checks copy.
  • Proactively evaluates website content and print collateral to ensure it is timely and accurate.
  • Explores different ideas and concepts for both the visual and verbal elements in tandem with the creative team.
  • Assists Marketing & Communications team with other duties, as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree required, and at least 3-5 years of copywriting experience in advertising, marketing or related industry.
  • Demonstrated track record in writing for a variety of audiences.
  • Prior proven experience collaborating with others, including but not limited to, web designers, graphic artists, photographers, and/or videographers.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative spirit and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of the higher education competitive landscape.
  • Able to use office and telecommunication equipment.
  • Nights and weekend work may be expected at times.
  • Light to moderate lifting of files, supplies and office materials.
