Custodial Services Lead

Position Summary:

The Custodial Services Lead will maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment for students, staff and guests; interacting and responding to customer needs.

Areas of responsibilities are:

  • Residential Halls/Classrooms
  • LLC 24 Hr. Desk
  • Apartments
  • Auxiliaries Dept. Offices

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning and maintaining of restrooms
  • Common shower areas
  • Empty resident rooms
  • Apartments
  • Classrooms
  • Office spaces
  • Exterior of buildings
  • Entrance ways
  • Light maintenance of equipment related to custodial duties.

During the academic year the Custodial Services Lead is a member of a Residence Hall custodial team. During winter break, summer, and as needed during the academic year, the Custodial Services Lead is responsible overseeing the process of apartment turnovers. This position supervises the team assigned to clean and maintain apartment units.

Minimum Qualifications:

Due to the duties of this position, successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age.**

Willingness to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial type cleaning equipment such as high speed buffers and vacuum cleaners.

Demonstrated experience in cleaning restrooms and shower facilities and/or similar facilities;

Experience operating industrial type cleaning equipment and performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment.

Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and directions including cleaning equipment operation instructions, cleaning supplies and materials use and disposal instructions.

Experience in supervising employees.

Ability to work as part of a team and cooperate with others

Posses strong written and verbal communication skills.

Understand written and verbal instructions from supervisors, customers, and staff.

Experience using computers, email, calendar/scheduling, and word processing systems.

Prior experience that indicates a skill level necessary to perform any of the assigned custodial and maintenance tasks.

Demonstrated reliability and dependability as shown through work history, school or references.

Must posses a valid motor vehicle operators license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a student environment.

Experience working in a team environment.

Demonstrated attitude toward customer satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.

Leadership skills in organization, time management, motivational techniques and training employees.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, carry or otherwise move items weighing up to approximately 60 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift.
Ability to climb and work from ladders.
Availability to work days, some evenings or weekends and some holidays.
Ability to work in inclement weather.
