Position: Director of Student Health

Location: Student Health Services/ Student Affairs and Enrollment Management

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for the Unit and supervision of direct reports
  • Manage daily operations
  • Manage Health Services, which include Clinical Services, Referrals System Services to Clinics and Hospitals, health Education Programs, and the TU Student Health Insurance Program.
  • Provide direct primary care appropriate to the needs of college students, including diagnosis, treatment, referral for consultation or specialty services
  • Administer medications as needed, follow-up care, evening urgent care calls, and on-call emergency consultation.
  • Assess the physical and psychological status of individuals by performing an appropriate examination
  • Oversee the area’s strategic planning process, plans, goals, priorities, and establish alignment with the University’s mission, vision, strategic direction
  • Participate in the development of criteria for quality assurance programs to evaluate the effectiveness of care being given
  • Maintain a safe, secure, confidential, and accurate system of health records, compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act (HIPAA)
  • Maintain licensure and attend continuing educational programs to remain current
  • Manage budget
  • Provide advice on clinical needs and suggest methods to enhance efficiency and revenue
  • Document assessment and treatment appropriately, in a legally defensibly manner, utilizing Electronic Medical Records
  • Serve on committees and projects as assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience and current license as a Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner preferred)
  • Bachelors Degree (Master’s preferred in Health or Health Education discipline)
  • Must be certified; also must have current certification in Basic Life Support
  • Supervisory ability
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in management, practice and delivery of health services
  • Ability to maintain medical records
  • Medical billing background/ experience

Salary Commensurate with education, training and experience
