As an Engineering Librarian, you will provide research and teaching support to faculty, staff, and students in the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). You will be part of the Science & Engineering Library Services (SELS) team. The specific areas that you will cover in this position will depend upon your interests and expertise.

As an Engineering Librarian, your primary duties will include:
  • Providing research support to faculty and students in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS).
  • Designing and teaching curriculum-integrated instruction sessions in a variety of formats to meet the needs of diverse user groups.
  • Providing reference and research consultation services in-person, virtually, or through electronic communication for students, faculty, staff, and outside researchers.
  • Collaborating with fellow team members to develop new services and programs in emerging areas of engineering education and research.
  • Communicating current issues and trends in scholarly communication and open access publishing to faculty and staff in relevant disciplines.
  • Building strong collaborative relationships with faculty in SEAS regarding best practices for data management.
  • Demonstrating commitment to continued professional growth and active participation in professional activities and service.

Based upon your qualifications, experience, the University’s standards for continuing appointment, and Libraries’ standards in librarianship, service, and scholarship, we anticipate appointing you at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. You will report to the Head of Science and Engineering Library Services and work with librarians and staff across the University Libraries.
