The Position:

Applications are currently being accepted for Senior Clerical Assistant in the Office of Student Equity, located at City College. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

The Senior Clerical Assistant is expected to meet the qualifications presented on the Senior Clerical Assistant classification description as displayed as Desired Qualifications and Training and Experience, upon completing the first six (6) months of employment in a Senior Clerical Assistant assignment.

Those qualifications below that are not duplicates from the list on the linked Senior Clerical Assistant classification description are desired or preferred but not required.

Knowledge:
Applicable sections of California Education Codes.
District organization, operations, policies, and objectives.
Operations, procedures, and specific rules of the particular office and/or Department of Education grants.
Computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including computer hardware and software.
English competency including written and verbal communication skills.
Interpersonal skills using tact, diplomacy, and courtesy.
Telephone etiquette and procedures.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to create requisitions and track expenditures.
Arrange, update, modify, and schedule a variety of meetings, events and workshops.
Record and transcribe minutes of meetings and other information, including material of a confidential nature.
Establish and maintain complex, interrelated filing systems.
Operate a variety of office equipment, including computer hardware and software.
Use computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Review and proof documents, records, and forms for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to applicable rules and regulations.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Facilitate travel arrangements to local and/ or national venues.
Order and maintain office supplies.
Type/keyboard at 45 words per minute.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Work independently with little direction.
Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Training and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of increasingly responsible clerical and typing/keyboarding experience. Some positions in this class may require clerical experience in area of assignment such as payroll or timekeeping.

Pay Information:

Range 18 ($3,134.76 $5,003.78) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
