Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada, is seeking applicants for a Veterans Pre-Admission Associate for the Veterans Resource Center. Reporting to the Program Director, the Veterans Pre-Admission Associate acts as a representative of the institution and is responsible for being the first point of contact for all prospective and current students. The Veterans Pre-Admission Associate is also responsible for scheduling all outreach events for students on campus, including outreach opportunities off campus. The Veterans Pre-Admission Associate is a key part of continuing to serve our student veterans in their successful transition from military service to academia.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

2. One (1) year of related experience OR a combination of experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
2. VAOnce experience preferred.
3. One year of experience in a related position serving veterans.
4. One year of experience in Higher Education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position provides exceptional customer services to students, employees, and the public. They respond to inquiries concerning VA eligibility. Ensures students understand federal/ school policies and procedures related to VA education benefits. Processes certification and re-certifications for VA benefits according to federal guidelines and regulations; Ensure compliance with federal, state, Board of Regents, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures relating to veterans. Determines award amount adjustments, changes, or corrections as needed to student VA certifications. Works with the Cashier's Office to receive and reconcile Chapter 33 payments from the USDVA. Coordinates with other departments to address inquiries regarding the use of veteran benefits. Ensures supporting documentation required by the VA is communicated and collected; Prepares and maintains records and files for reporting purposes; compiles data and prepares special or recurring reports for management or other departments as requested including federal audits.

Responsibilities:
Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
1. Process veteran educational benefits, including enrollment certification, communication with USDVA about enrollment changes, grade reporting, etc. Works with Cashier's Office to receive and reconcile payments from the USDVA.
2. Ensure compliance with federal, state, Board of Regents, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures. Ensure college catalog, class schedule, and new programs are approved by the USDVA/State approving authority. Participate in yearly audits with the USDVA and State Approving Agency. Attend USDVA trainings. Compile and submit reports on education benefits as requested.

3. Hire, train, and supervise VA work study students. Submit VA work study applications to VA on a semester basis.
4. Customer service to veterans and other financial aid students.
5. Understand and accept the role to be played as a partner in an educational enterprise serving the best interests of the students.
6. Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission, and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College.

7. Other duties as assigned.

Schedule:
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Salary and Benefits Information

Salary: $44,262- $55,328, initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.
