Student Affairs at RISD provides opportunities for all students to develop personally, socially and intellectually. In support of the college’s academic mission, we foster the skills engaged citizens need for success and achievement. We create active learning environments that support students’ co-curricular experience. Our programming and services reflect the values of community, inclusiveness, responsibility, leadership and well-being.

In this newly created position, the Health Educator & Prevention Coordinator will recommend, implement and sustain educational programs and initiatives which encourage and support a campus-wide healthy decision making culture and further build upon a foundation that supports student success, resiliency, and personal development. This will be accomplished by actively engaging campus constituents and creating awareness of the effects of high-risk behaviors using a holistic model of wellness education and promotion; healthy sexual-decision-making, sexual and interpersonal violence awareness; and alcohol and other drug use / abuse. In addition, the Health Educator & Prevention Coordinator will develop and deliver innovative education and trainings on topics including nutrition, sleep, and stress management and contribute to efforts in support of mental and physical health and well-being.

The ideal candidate will will show a strong commitment to the field of work with a demonstrated understanding of health / wellness issues across cultures and identities with both undergraduate and graduate students.

The Division of Student Affairs serves as a general advocate for all RISD students. In other words, we are the people to turn to when you have financial aid concerns, need to take a leave or withdraw from RISD, or when you’re not quite sure whom to ask about your particular need.
