Overview

Tufts University Counseling and Mental Health Service (CMHS) is a division of Tufts department of Health and Wellness, which also includes Tufts Health Service and Tufts Office of Health Promotion and Prevention. The Department contributes to the educational mission of The University through a variety of activities devoted to prevention, intervention, and consultation. Serving a diverse student body of approximately 8000 undergraduate and graduate students on two campuses, CMHS is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment which is inclusive and culturally informed. We are a multicultural team with an ongoing focus on equity and inclusion. We bring energy and a collaborative approach to the provision of brief counseling and psychiatric services. 

 

In addition, we are active on campus doing training, outreach and liaison work, as well as consulting to the Tufts communities of students, parents, faculty, and staff regarding students of concern.  We also provide mental health crisis intervention and after hours on-call services to the campus community.


What You'll Do

The Staff Clinician entails the provision of a full range of psychological services to the Tufts University community.  This position has as one of its central features, a focus on underserved communities, specifically those impacted by racism and bias. 

 

The successful candidate for the Staff Clinician position will

  • Have demonstrated experience providing relevant and effective therapeutic services to African and Black Diaspora clients and communities and will be expected to have training and experience working with other BIPOC+ students and communities, LGBTQ+ students, and students with diverse ethnicities, immigration histories, and intersecting identities. 
  • Provide clinical services including assessment, individual, couples, and group counseling, and crisis intervention, as well as liaison activities, outreach programming, and community consultation.
  • Participate in 24-hour emergency on-call rotations, involving telephone and/or face-to-face after-hours evaluations when necessary. 
  • Participation and presentations at in-service trainings, as well as possible supervision of postgraduate trainees and/or staff may also be required.


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts as a Psychologist Provider or LICSW
  • Must possess demonstrated expertise working with diverse populations including, but not limited to students of the African and Black Diaspora, international students, LGBTQ+ students, as well as students with intersectional identities and various immigration histories
  • Requires clinical experience involving brief therapy and crisis intervention with college student/young adult populations
  • Strong generalist experience working with a variety of issues common in college populations including stress and anxiety management, eating and body image issues, trauma, substance abuse, non-suicidal self-injury, suicidality, depression and mood disorders, etc.
  • Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation and other after-hours campus activities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual candidates are urged to apply. 
  • Prefer 3+ years post-license clinical experience and experience addressing crises in a campus community


Pay Range

Minimum $78,050.00, Midpoint $97,600.00, Maximum $117,150.00
 

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
