The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is seeking an experienced Higher Education Strategic Planning Expert that will assist the university in the development of its long-term strategy and will take a lead role in the strategic analyses in support of planning across a broad range of University academic and administrative areas. The candidate will work closely with Director of Strategy & Future Department and the University Executive Leadership Team to define, monitor and evaluate the Strategic Directions of the University and its strategic planning processes. Moreover, the candidate will provide overall guidance and management to Strategic Projects, Institutional Performance, and Institutional Reporting and Analytics. This position is ideal for someone who possesses exceptional analytical and planning capabilities, coupled with strong project management skills, and who is interested in contributing to the mission of UAEU and gaining a deep understanding of the University in the process.
Role and Responsibilities
Support the Strategy & Future Department in the delivery of best practice outcomes in the following areas: Institutional strategic and operational planning, resource allocation, performance management and policy formation.
Lead the development and execution of University-wide integrated planning processes including strategy formulation, communication, execution, as well as defining measures of success and monitoring institutional performance.
Ensure that the institutional strategy is clearly articulated and communicated internally, using innovative communications methods, channels and materials customized to the different organizational divisions.
Develop perspectives on International and National Higher Education trends with potential impact on the future of the University.
Lead development of strategic analyses in support of planning across a broad range of University academic and administrative areas.
Develop and communicate analytical insights that inform decision-making among senior University leaders.
Conduct a periodical benchmarking exercise to compare performance and practices against local, regional and international peer institutions.
Monitor and evaluate the progress of Strategic initiatives.
Undertake analysis on strategic options, business cases and initiatives as requested, including structural changes and new policy formation.
Undertake other tasks as requested by the Director of Strategy & Future Department. Qualifications & Desired Skills.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in Higher Education in areas such as strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, institutional research or assessments in higher education.
Previous experience developing comprehensive planning, budgeting, or assessment systems which align decisions with a strategic plan. * Previous experience in consultancy with Higher Education Institutes.
Advanced knowledge of higher education practices, emerging trends and challenges.
Highly developed organizational, communication and presentation skills including the ability to negotiate and influence senior stakeholders from both academic departments and professional services on complex and potentially strategic issues.
Strong project management skills coupled with the ability to coordinate diverse organizational elements.
Strong management and leadership skills as exhibited by experience in effectively leading a team and/or chairing committees.
